I've been reading up on what to expect at the MTC and what my schedule will be like and I ran into this. Let me know if it's not accurate!
I can't believe in just 15 days ill be at the MTC! I don't know how i'll do with the language! :s Russian seems soo hard!
Does anyone have any tips for me? What should I do before I leave on my mission? How to prepare?

So! that schedule is perfect for out in the field. In the MTC it's a bit different. You get an hour of gym time, time with teachers, time at devotionals and large group meetings. You'll go crazy in the MTC for 12 weeks. It's... tough after about four. Just remember to have fun. Don't get too serious, it won't help you in the field. Be yourself, study hard, be incredibly friendly, and be quite silly. You'll struggle for a while with the language, everyone does. Everyone has their own pace, and style. Figure out how you learn best then make it work. If you have a bad day, eat chocolate. (I do that even now!) Write back to everyone who writes you. Send postcards, though, they're easier and people are usually quite impressed. Remember that you're only a missionary for a while. You'll always miss it afterwards, no matter how much you love it. Learn about how the people live, it'll help you know how to talk to them. Remember that everyone is a person, an individual, the main character in their life. Treat them like they are the most important investigator you have. They are.
ReplyDeleteMost of all I'd say... be yourself, God called you. He wants you to serve. He doesn't need two of whoever your teacher or trainer or other companion is, he needs one of you. You'll be awesome. have fun, drink kvass, and try to not break the word of wisdom (it's pretty hard!)
Hahaha i love this! thanks daniel! i'm soo excited and already in love with Russia! can't wait to get there! Kvass? ill look for it sounds wierd! but im not a picky eater soo lol ill try it! thanks for your comment!
